Ten Fingers, Ten Toes, Ten Months.

Baby A 10 Month!

Weight: 19.25 according to the tortilla scale at work
Length: Ehhh no idea. He wears mostly 12m clothes
Number of Teeth: 8!!! Four top and four bottom!

Likes:
Standing and walking on my fingers. Bathtime and splashing. Eating bath toys. Anything that is not a toy and that mama needs. My iphone: He loveslovesloves pressing the button to hear Siri “Doodood” and then say “I’m sorry I didn’t get that.” Eating my phone. (I lost the battle on phone access- The rule was going to be no phone.) Feeding himself finger foods and throwing cheerios. Throwing the binky when he is mad then being out of luck when it’s out of reach… because he can’t crawl. Being carried everywhere. Facetiming Mimi and hanging up on her.

Dislikes: Being left behind when I stand up to grab something from the other room. Being put in the cart at a store (he prefers being held). Being stuck in the stroller or car seat for long. Having things put in his mouth, he can do it himself. Taking something away when he is putting it in his mouth. Getting his nails clipped (unless What Does The Fox Say is on then he will sit quietly)

Eye Color: Dark grey blue

Hair Color: Blonde is full on in. Red tint in certain lights.

New Skills: (Still not interested in crawling). Standing and pulling himself into a standing position from sitting. Even going from laying down to sitting is new. Reaching into the puffs container and getting them out himself. Giving ‘kisses.’ And going completely stiff and silent for a second when he gets mad.. he will open his eyes wide and clench his fists. And echo screaming…I’ll scream then he will, then I will, then he will. and lastly FIRST HAIRCUT!

My Favorite Thing: Slobbery baby kisses. Open mouthed cheekbone ‘bites’ that count as kisses and soak my face. And after I praise him for the kisses he gives me more until I need a towel and he is ridiculously pleased with himself. When he is sick he cuddles. And THE HELMET COMES OFF ON THE 5TH!!!

Things I Call Him: LittleBear, Sweetheart, TinySquat, Squatty Squats, Honey

Secondhand Breakfast

Braving the rain and keeping LittleBear dry

This month’s NewThing was baby throw up. On Friday we went to Chapel at my AlmaMater for homecoming and during the talk he decided to throw up alllllll over me, the ergo, and himself. I ran to the bathroom and he was still retching. I was covered in throw up… shirt, pants, and down my shirt. He was soaked… pants, onsie, and bib. And the ergo has some pooled in it. Gross. I stripped him in the bathroom and  paper toweled him off. This is a college chapel and not made for babies. No changing table or easily reachable towels. Students were coming in and put using the bathroom and a couple offered to help but there really wasn’t anything people could do. So now BabyA is naked to the diaper and his clothes are balled on the counter next to all sorts of throw up drips. And he starts baby shivering. It’s cold outside, and had been pouring for an hour. So I have naked baby, and a handful of all the stuff he threw up on and my bag and coat were still in the chapel. Ugh. So I left the gross outside the doors and ran into to get my things with the baby. Some lady looked at me like a terrible mom because its 50 degrees and he’s naked. Ugh. I wrapped him in my coat and bundled him near my chest so we could dash through the rain to the car and head home. I had to take him out of the coat in the car and hes baby catatonic and still shivering while I buckled him in. I got in (still soaked in throwup) and cranked up the heat. Which made a lovely aroma. BabyA spent the ride home staring at nothing huddled in the coat. I spent the ride home breathing through my mouth and praying he wasn’t going to throw up again in the car. We made it home and both of us changed and spent the day cuddling and him having liquids only. He never threw up again and I was paranoid why he was sick… I finally figured out it was from having a runny nose for 3 days… he had been swallowing the phlegm and it made him sick and he threw up all the boogers in his stomach. Thank goodness it wasn’t the flu. He spent the rest of the day snuggling with me and the fuzzy blanket.

Fastfoward to Monday and he is still a little sick (slight fever all weekend) but it’s all stayed down (fever and stomah contents)
All the rain made beautiful clouds.. we NEVER see those here!

Found this bad boy at a thrift shop for $2!!! ($30 online!)
Aaaaaaand BabyA is no longer interested in nursing. He has turned his head and cried the last three times I have tried. Minus the early morning first feeding.. that he will take. Everything else makes him mad/cry. Unless its daddy with a bottle. Ugh. 10 months. It was a good run :(I am more sad about this than I should be I guess. It will really open up my free time. I wont have to be home at certain times to feed him if Daddy can do it.

Lastly. BabyA doesn't want to nap. Now that his royal highness can stand up he will do so immediately and stay standing and crying for the full nap time. At the right angle he can use the closet mirrors to see into our room and watch for me. which means in the morning when he wakes and stands he can see me in bed still and scream at me until I rescue him. No bueno. Child nap. come on.

Long Time, No Write.

LittleBear and I have been trying to find a routine that we can both agree with and I am coming out the loser. Goodbye nap times. I miss you. Someone only sleeps for 30-40 minutes now and then demands release from crib-prison.  We caught him last night standing(!) at his railing crying for us. This is the first time he has pulled himself up, and luckily I had the forethought to move the mattress down a rung the day before. I could have ended really badly instead of the funny way it did end. WE had heard him crying after we put him down… and as a rule we don’t go in and ‘fix’ him unless he is stuck with a leg out. So we were letting him cry but couldn’t see him because the camera had moved and he wasn’t in range, so hubs decided to sneak in armycrawl style and fix the camera without LittleBear being any the wiser. So on his stomach hubs crawls through the doorway… being careful to stay below eye level of the baby so coming in doesn’t mess him up further. Hubs gets halfway into the room and hears the crying stop. He glances up and looks up right into BabyA’s eyes. Who was standing at the rail looking down. So much for sneaking.  It looks like BabyA stood up and then got stuck without knowing how to get himself back down. So he was crying for us to come in and rescue him from the standing position. Ahahahaha.

On that note. I have the laziest baby. He is still not interested in crawling (almost 10 months!) and if he can’t reach it he doesn’t want it. He can’t go from lying down to sitting either. He can go from sitting the tummy (this is a recent development) but not the other way around. He can pull himself up on things.. usually with a hand, and can walk while holding fingers. But no crawling. The good news is I have not babyproofed. No need when he stays where I leave him.

Nothing else really in our lives. LittleBear has 6 teeth now… four top two bottom and he looooves to bite/chew things. Especially mommy. I have been bitten twice nursing and I am not of big a fan of his teeth as he is.
