Three Month Stats

Baby A Three Month!

Weight: 13.11lbs
Length: Two feet!
Likes: Mommy, smiling, bathtime, sitting up so he can see, standing with help, Facetiming Mimi, Daddy reading to him, his mobile over the crib, the binky, conversations, and singing along.
Dislikes: Shots, tummyime, being tired, getting his diaper changed when he is tired, not getting to eat immediately, having his head washed when he is tired, too much of anything, being set down when he is tired… there is a pattern here…
Eye Color: Dark blue with a grey/blue center
Hair Color: Blonde is growing in, but brown at the nape of his neck still.
New Skills: putting his fist in his mouth, grabbing whatever touches his fist, then putting that in his mouth, sitting in the bumpo, playing in the Johnny Jump Up, being more independent and wanting what he wants when he wants it, doing crunches when we lay him down and he tries to lift his head up, he doesn’t know his name yet… but will follow movement and look at noises.
My Favorite Thing: That he will stare at me and we will talk back and forth, and he still cuddles when he is tired and I am burping him. He is now less frugal with his gummy smiles and mommy is able to get the most/best ones out of him. Sorry daddy.
Things I Call Him: Booger, Boogerbear, Honey Bee, Boogs, Honeybear, Angel, Angelface, Mybigboy, Fatty, Beautifulboy

Comeuppance

So I read Ali's post about how happy she was that baby V slept from 9-530 (yay baby V!) for the first time and my first thought was baby A does that 6 nights out of 7. We do 9-530, then 6-9, the last hour in the big bed with me once Hubs gets up.... Because he is sucha good little sleeper, I have a bad habit of feeling extremely proud of my baby and basking in the jealousy of other moms. Serves me right. The last two nights Baby A has regressed to waking up 2-3 times instead of 1. I blame my smugness. Actually it could be a combination of several things.. But i know part of it is because i have a big head. Not because we upgraded his swaddle from the newborn to the bigger size since  his feet were getting cramped. This new swaddle is big. Which means it is impossible to get tight enough. So he can wiggle his little hands from their starting position down by his sides to elbows by his sides and fists under his chin. Which he can just happen to stick into his mouth. This wakes him up Every. Time. Every time. He doesn't know how to handle arm freedom so he wakes up and fusses until he gets baby-straight jacketed again. So this new swaddle plus three shots yesterday made for cranky baby, cranky mom and a generally tired house. Here I was feeling smugly well rested and now my child is paying me back in spades. Stupid pride!

Shots yesterday as always hurt me more than him.  I had to hold his little arms down and then listen to him scream after the first one and know I couldn't pick him up for two more shots. Granted it was only 30 seconds of him crying but it felt like forever when I wasn't able to fix it right away. After shots and the doctors stern recommendation of an hour of tummy time a day for flat headedness we left. I fed the baby and we put in the ergo and walked to lunch. He spend the rest of the day cranky and wanting to be held and then followed it by a night of awareness and frustrating arm freedom.

He is currently asleep on my chest while I lay on the bed (yay cuddle tummy time!) hubs is on his way home and I am glad it's the weekend!

I'll do his three month stats later :)

And there he is in a picnic basket before i packed it for Friday Lunch Date with daddy :)!

Beans

Not too much has been happening since my uploading frenzy last week. We had a tame weekend with trips to Costco and target and I am yet again attempting to grow my own vegetables from seeds. I try this every year with the same results. The only difference is how long it takes me to kill them. Baby A is my only success story of growing something and keeping it alive. I swear I would find a way to kill a plastic plant. So year three of starting a plant. One year I cheated and bought a plant already started. I think I killed that one faster than the seeds. This year’s victim: beans. I am very excited about them. Hubby helped me plant them in a box yesterday and now I am eagerly watching them for the first sign of green. It’s been about 12 hours and nothing yet.

In other news I am diaper shopping. There are so many options! We like pampers a lot… but they are the expensive ones. So we are testing out the Costco ones… we like them. And we want to try Luvs too. Huggies were a bomb, he peed out of them. Amazon Mom has a delivery and Subscribe and Save feature and that is worth looking into. Hmm.

Baby A is asleep, so I got my shower in. And had time to write and surf the internet. Go baby go!

Thus ends this collection of rambling.

Liebster Award

I was passed along this "Liebster Award." I had no idea what this was and had never heard of it before so here is the description Ali found from Bing (<which is a sacrilege in the internet world!)
Apparently liebster is a German word meaning sweetest, kindest, nicest, dearest, beloved, lovely, kind, pleasant, valued, cute, endearing, and welcome  Apparently the Liebster Award is granted to up and coming bloggers with not too many followers who deserve some recognition and support to keep on blogging.
So according to the rules of the Liebster Award, I am to state 11 facts about me, answer 11 questions posed at the giver’s website (Ali's Blog) choose 11 people to whom I will pass on this honor, and then make up 11 more questions which the new recipients must answer. I only read three blogs routinely… seeing as my blog is a secret from everyone I know. One of which gave me this.  So I will pretend that 3 is 11.

So here it goes...

11 facts about me and a picture of the baby:

  1.  When I was little, my dad (who is a Chaplin) would legally marry my sister’s and my barbies in elaborate ceremonies filled with every toy we owned. They never got divorced. So technically they were all polygamists
  2.  I used to sneak into my sister’s room when she was a teenager and read her diary. Come on Bry, down the side of the bed wasn’t the best hiding spot.
  3.   I can read faster than your average Joe. I finish a book in a day or two. It takes about 4-6 hours to finish a 400 page book. So I have read so many books I cannot even recall a 10th of their titles. And when someone asks which book I am reading, I honestly don’t know what it’s called. Even if I am holding it. It’s just “next”.
  4.  I was proposed to on my 22nd birthday in Disneyland. I never thought I would want to share my bday with another big event... but in reality it was the best present of my life.
  5.  I hold a Masters in Teaching and Learning with a Certificate in Reading. That is currently sitting in the bottom of a drawer. I would pick ‘mom’ over teacher any day. I will probably never teach in my own classroom. After I got my degree I realized classroom teaching isn’t for me. I don’t consider it a waste of time however, because it will make teaching my kids easier.
  6.  My favorite color is pink. Which is unfortunate because it means I can never sneak it into the house decoration. Hubby is anti ‘girly fluff and frill” aka my other middle name.
  7.  I do not like seafood. Something about it having eyes that can still look at me while I’m eating. It’s too easy to imagine fish as alive. Even in filets because it is not so different. A steak doesn’t look like a cow still.
  8.   I wear the same jewelry every day. My wedding and engagement rings, a ring from my dad on my right hand that says “think of me, God willing” in Latin, a diamond solitaire necklace my grandpa got me for my high school graduation, and a small white gold cross necklace from my mom. I only change the necklaces for special occasions, so hubs knows not to get me jewelry. I won’t wear it.
  9.  Being a stay at home mom has been a dream of mine since my barbies got married. I am literally living my dream right now. Even when A is crying. Like now. Hold on.
  10.  I have (not so anymore) secret daydreams of being a princess. No idea how that can happen. I’m already married.
  11.  Last and not least… I like the Hannah Montana movie and the High School Musicals.

Questions
Question 6.
  1. If you could spend a day with one person (living or dead), who would that be? Ellen DeGeneres. Oddly enough I was talking about this with my sister yesterday. Ellen would be my best friend ever.
  2. How much time do you spend on Facebook, really? Too much. I check it about 80 times a day. It doesn’t help it is on my phone. I don’t even know what I do on there to take up time.
  3. If you have a pet and animals could talk, what do you think yours would say about you? That I need to walk him more. I don’t even have a pet, but someday we will get a dog for A and this will come up a lot. That’s why my master plan is to get a dog when A is old enough to share (have) some (all) of the responsibility.
  4. What did you want to be when you were in fifth grade? A pastry chef. This was my dream for almost my entire childhood. I had dreams of what my bakery would look like. This dream was shot down when my mom informed me bakers have to get up really early. I don’t do early well.
  5. If you could vacation anywhere (cost is not an issue), where would it be? Fiji! In one of those private cabanas on the water. I have always wanted to stay in one on a white sand crystal water beach.
  6. What is your favorite meal to prepare? (Please include a recipe... Clearly I will want it to add to my meal planning.) Currently it is Chicken Fried Rice. We change it up a little by adding more veggies and an extra egg and more rice. And using rotisserie chicken. Delicious.
  7. What is your favorite Internet pastime? Facebook and Imgur. And reading MSN news.
  8. Ok, assuming you get off the computer ever once in a while, what's your favorite pastime in general? Reading. Reading in the bath. With dessert, wine, and a bath ball. And my rubber ducky.
  9. What age do you view yourself - you know, you stop and think you are still that chubby fifth grader and haven't changed much since then (my own example)? I think of the me at age 18-21ish. My mom always said that you see yourself in your head at the age you spent the most time starting at yourself in the mirror. Which were my early college years. I feel a lifetime older but still look the same…. I guess its only been 5 years ish.
  10. Does your life feel complete? So much. I have everything I have ever wanted and wouldn’t look at the future if someone could offer to show me.
  11. Ending on a simple note, what's your favorite color? Odd. I andwered this in my 11. Pink pink pink. More specifically the lighter shades.
Ok my questions for YOU to answer.

  1. If you could no holds barred, no reservations, no retaliation, no guilt, full on slap a celebrity of your choice who would it be and why?
  2.  If you had to choose between having perpetual cheetos powder fingers or having one inch long eyebrows you couldn’t trim which would you choose?
  3.  What is the most played song on your itunes?
  4. What facial moisturizer do you like best? (I’m trying to find one)
  5. Are you a city or suburb type of person? Not necessarily where you currently live, but where you want to build your life.
  6. If you could live in a different country where would you go?
  7. Your favorite perfume?
  8. What song do you guiltily know all the words to? (mine is Ice Ice Baby)
  9. What do you order at chipotle?
  10. Would you rather be color blind or tone deaf?
  11. What is the first thing that pops in your head when you are asked your most embarrassing moment?

Besides Ali’s these are the only blogs I read. So I choose you two!
