Labor Day Weekend p3, Etc... Etc

I guess I should finish up writing about labor day weekend… seeing as it was over a week ago.. After we told the fam and they all flipped out in a good way I felt better about the weekend and not having to be as careful hiding my stomach from a ton of people. I did my best to avoid being around his extended family as much as I could because it was exhausting being careful about how I stood, what I ate, what I said etc. it was emotionally draining anyway being up there with the new baby, and my pregnant sister in law… especially when they were comparing baby tips and tricks. It really hit home that I don’t have a 4 month old like I should. I may have gotten a little upset more than once over everything. Then on the way home hubs and I got in a mini disagreement on the drive about him not liking how I acted around his extended fam and not understanding why we couldn’t just share. I tried to explain that it wasn’t them knowing.. it was I didn’t want to answer questions and talk about my feelings with anyone.  He doesn’t get asked these questions. I do. I hate them. I don’t want to talk about it. Even not knowing I’m pregnant I still got “how are you doing” “what actually happened to Max” “will you guys be trying again?” NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS PEOPLE. My rule is ‘unless I offer the information or bring it up first, don’t talk about it. Ugh.

On a side note… Hubby and I are becoming official members of our church next week! We are pretty excited and feel the church is a good fit for us:) This baby loves church and just like his brother, is never more active than during the worship music time.

And Hubs parents sent us and the baby welcome and yay flowers. Look how big he is at 20 weeks!!

And lastly, its been exactly 7 months since we lost our Max. Time had sped by but it still feels like yesterday. Mom and Dad love you little man! You’re an angel. Tell your brother I love when he moves and to be nice to daddy and share some kicks with him!

The Grass Is Always Greener On The Other Side

"But, the grass ain't always greener on the other side; it's green where you water it."

I was listening to Justin Bieber’s song ‘As long as you love me’ (don’t judge) and every time I hear it.. ok it may be on a playlist that only has 5 songs that keep repeating..this line makes me think.
Its true. The grass may be greener on the other side, but what if that is because the other side takes care of their grass. It’s easy to have envy for nice things, ‘better’ situations, relationships etc when you compare it to yourself. No one thinks about why the other side looks greener. The other side was cultured and groomed to be beautiful and healthy, ie. Green. No one thinks about how it got that way… hard work, open communication, the catalyst that caused the changes, or sometimes just plain dumb luck. Every single person wants the easy fix, switching lawns. No one wants to do the work to get the green grass. Its not something that can be fixed overnight. Complaining about your brown grass or wistfully wanting the green one without being willing to put in the work to tend your grass is easy. Turning brown grass into green grass is the challenge. Nothing worth having comes instantly. Everything is appreciated more if it took effort to obtain. Then not only do you finally have enviable green grass, you have pride from having turned it from brown to green yourself. The grass itself can stand for anything in your life. Plus the grass may be green in the front and brown in the back where no one sees it. Or the grass may be 90% weeds or infested with moles. Its not your grass. You don’t know how it got that way, or if its green everywhere, or if there are underlying problems.
Stop envying the grass on the other side. Work on your own grass.

I can’t believe this came from a Beiber/Rap song… and I spent 15 minutes writing about proverbial grass.

Week 19

·  Size of baby: He now weighs about 8½ ounces and measures 6 inches, as long as a turkey sub from Subway.
·  Weight gain: 2 pounds. For a grand total of -6 pounds. I now weigh 116!
·  Symptoms experienced: Lots of moodiness. Stomach cramping occasionally when I ‘overdo’ it during the day.
·  How I feel: Ready to just be farther along. I want it to be October too because my mom is coming.
·  What I've been craving: Chai tea. I have had one cup every morning for a week.
·  What I miss: Being able to hide/not tlak about this pregnancy. He’s too big now to pass off as a big lunch.
·  Best moment: Finally sharing with hub’s family.
·  Items purchased: A car. Kind of a big present for Baby. We bought it the same day our anatomy scan showed a normal baby so we say it’s his car. And some yarn to crochet hats.

I'm ready to get all sorts of clothes for the baby, but won’t feel comfortable really until after 27 weeks at the end of October.

Labor Day Weekend p2

I left off at arriving at the in-laws Saturday morning. We got up to the door and no one was home. Imagine our surprise. We had gotten up early, and had this amazing surprise planned and no one was home. Figures. The door was unlocked for us though, so we went in and put our stuff away and waiting for his family to return. His brother and wife and their kids plus his other sister all arrived within 10 minutes and then it was just his parents missing. We were told they were helping a neighbor move and would be back within 10 or so minutes, but they wanted Hubs to come say hi because he knew the people. He took the new car and left while I chatted with everyone else and had lunch. Hubby and his parents came back a little while later in the new car and his parents were really excited and surprised for our new car addition. They still had no idea about the baby.

For background. This weekend did not go as planned. We had been planning to reveal our secret for a couple months when we were up there, but only to his immediate family. Not extended. We had this whole scavenger hunt for around the town planned that ended with a balloon gender reveal at the park. Literally 4 days before we drove up we find out his aunt, uncle, other uncle, two cousins, and one boyfriend were all going to be up that weekend too staying at grandma and grandpa’s house next door. By next door I mean, next. Door. Can have a three year old throw a rock from one door to the other and still make contact. There goes our plan. The doors on both houses are revolving when family is up and everyone is just in and out all the time. This kind of ruined my carefully thought out months of preparation. We couldn’t all go run and get in the cars and leave for a while for our hunt without answering questions about what we were doing. So after a bitter two days of wallowing… I reeeaaaallllyy don’t like my plans changed last minute. We decided on an alternative reveal.

Back to the weekend. Now that everyone was back and fixing lunch and hanging out (with no extended family in sight) we brought the box upstairs. Hubs surreptitiously locked the door people might try to open from next door and we brought our surprise to the table. We told his parents it was for them, and we had seen it and immediately thought of them and wanted them to open it. Hubs other brother, wife and their baby weren’t there yet (they already knew about baby) so we said we were filming so they could see later.

Everyone was really really excited and surprised and called us good secret keepers. Ok someone might have used the word ‘liars’ because we were asked about babies last time we saw them a couple weeks ago. We explained everything we knew so far and asked them to keep it a secret for us.

It looks like there will be a part 3 to this saga. I'm tired of typing.

Labor Day Weekend p1

Our weekend started on Friday, hubs took the day off for Gummybears appointment so we woke up early and got breakfast at chick fil a and then went to test drive Honda Fits because we are in the market for a new car. Test driving was fun. And by driving I meant riding shotgun while hubs drove. We talked to the salesman for an hour about prices, options, etc because it was the last day of the month and deals were to be made. After we kind of both delivered our hardlines on pricing, interest rate, etc we said we needed to think about it and went to our anatomy scan appointment. The appointment went wonderful after she let me finally pee after all that liquid they want you to drink. The Dr spent about 30 minutes talking pictures and showing us things, paying special attention to his face and hands. She kept having to press really hard to get him to cooperate and it was a lot more painful for me than I thought. She would poke and prod him, and in turn he would kick me. It wasn’t my fault!! It put a lot of pressure on my back and that started really hurting while she looked. Finally she had all the pictures she needed, reconfirmed he is a boy, and she left to have the other dr come in and read us the results. We have a perfectly healthy average (little bit fat) baby boy. Risks were ridiculously small and we are very relieved. She didn’t find anything like they did with Max. Look at that profile! Perfect:)
We left in good spirits for sure. At this point I suggested lunch (1:00pm), but hubby wanted to go buy the car first because "it wont take too long"...right.We headed back to the dealership and spent an hour negotiating, an hour financing, and three hours waiting or sitting for who knows what reason.  “lunch” became a granola bar at 5 pm. I was super grumpy by this point and we knew we needed to leave because we were driving to hubs brothers house for the night. We left the dealer (finally) in time to hit rush hour, and headed home to switch out cars and get hubs sister’s truck he had been driving so we could return it to her. We left around 6 and drove for 2 hours to our midway to his parents house stop with me following hubs in the new car. The day itself was really overwhelming. No lunch, healthy baby, new car, and driving. I HATE driving. Hate hate hate it. So I wasn’t at all pleasant by the time we made it up around 8. And having had a granola bar at lunch and no dinner. Plus driving. Ugh. We chatted for about 30 minutes with our brother and sister in law and saw their new baby again for a minute before everyone went to bed. We woke up super early to get a headstart on the three hour drive and off we were. Me again driving and following hubs. I called my mom and sister on the drive up and got to talk to someone the entire three hours. That part of the weekend will have to wait until I feel like typing a ton more. That picture is me in my bump-hide skirt and a portion of the new car :)
